Fully charge the Ring Battery Doorbell before beginning. Install the Ring app from Google Play or the App Store, sign in, and enable two-factor authentication. Keep the device QR code available and confirm that the phone is connected to the home Wi-Fi network. If the doorbell will replace an existing wired unit, switch off the correct circuit before touching any wiring.
In the Ring app, choose Set Up a Device, scan the code, assign the doorbell to the correct address, and enter setup mode when prompted. Connect it to a strong 2.4GHz or supported dual-band network. The front door can be a difficult Wi-Fi location because brick, metal, and exterior walls reduce signal strength. Complete a live-view test at the installation point before attaching the mounting plate.
Mount the doorbell at a height and angle that captures faces as well as packages. Use a wedge if stairs, a side wall, or a narrow entry makes the camera point away from visitors. Tighten the security screw after testing the view. Add a Ring Chime only after the doorbell itself is online and stable.
Configure motion zones to cover the approach to the door without including the full road or a neighbor’s property. Begin with conservative sensitivity and enable only the alerts the household will act on. Test notifications on both Android and iPhone, verify two-way talk, and create shared users rather than sharing the owner’s password. Review video-storage subscription options before relying on event history.
Daniel Westow’s detailed setup video covers charging, the Ring app, QR pairing, Wi-Fi, motion zones, physical mounting, notifications, Live View, replies, event history, and Ring Chime configuration for the current battery-doorbell workflow.
