Before connecting a Google Nest Cam Indoor, update the Google Home app on Android or iPhone and confirm that the phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network intended for the camera. Keep the camera, power cable, mounting parts, and Wi-Fi password nearby. If the camera was previously used, remove it from the old home and perform the manufacturer’s reset procedure first.
In Google Home, select Add, choose the device setup option, and scan the QR code on the camera. Follow the prompts to select the correct home and room. Allow Bluetooth and local-network access when requested because they help the phone discover the camera. Wait for the live view to appear before mounting anything permanently.
Placement determines whether a security camera is useful. Position it where faces move across the frame instead of directly toward a bright window. Avoid aiming at private neighboring areas and keep the cable away from children, pets, and moving doors. Test the live stream at the planned location to confirm that Wi-Fi remains stable. If the connection is weak, improve router placement or add a properly configured mesh access point before drilling.
After mounting or placing the camera, adjust notifications. Enable person or activity alerts only for areas that matter, and use activity zones to exclude a television, moving curtain, or busy street. Review microphone settings and decide whether audio recording is appropriate for the location and local rules. Enable two-step verification on the Google Account and carefully control who is invited to the home.
Google Help’s official video shows the complete indoor-camera workflow, including starting setup in Google Home, checking Wi-Fi, selecting height, preparing different wall types, attaching the wall plate, adjusting the view, managing the cable clip, and understanding the status light.
